Her parents owned a strip club, so it was natural for her to find herself dancing. She’s good at what she does – commanding attention while maintaining control. She appears confidant.
She’s no different from any other mother – she speaks highly of her young son, and is quick to share his picture with us.
She knows she cannot continue to dance forever, so she’s recently returned to school. She’s starting by attending classes for an associate degree, but she dreams of a degree in molecular biology. She needs to continue to dance to pay for classes.
After talking for a bit she gets quiet. She has to ask us a favor. Could we? Would we? Would we please pray for her mom? See, she’s worried about her. She has been an alcoholic for quite some time. And it’s getting worse. Everyone in the family is noticing her mom hiding alcohol around the house. She has started drinking alone. “Dancer M” worries she will find her mom dead from alcohol poisoning. No one wants to find their momma like that. We are able to give her some resources, places she may be able to find help for her mom. And we pray. We pray for her mom, for her family, and for her son. We pray for “Dancer M” to find value somewhere besides the strip club.
